PEGASUS

PEGASUS

The motivation of PEGASUS is to establish a genuinely integrated European Ph.D degree thereby contributing to the modernisation, europeanisation and internationalisation of the Ph.D training at the participating partner institutions and beyond.

The rationale behind the PEGASUS consortium is to develop a Ph.D. programme in order to:

  • Satisfy the strong demands for a genuinely integrated transnational approach;

  • Use accumulated expertise and experiences of two existing early stage researchers networks (EXACT ITN on external action, Cologne/Prague/TEPSA; INCOOP ITN on institutionalism, Maastricht), and an existing Double Master’s degree (Maastricht/Cologne);

  • Award a joint Ph.D diploma based on high quality research on a top political priority of the European Union polity in the making as well as of its policies and politics;

  • Enhance student mobility through flexible learning paths, enhance teaching staff mobility through visiting lectures and courses and project administrator mobility through joint steering group meetings;

  • Develop flexible study paths in an “optimal European research and education area”; and

  • Raise employment prospects for graduates in academia, public administration and the “Brussels arena” by special skills education, teaching experience and working for professional think tanks.

PEGASUS consortium involves University of Cologne, Charles University Prague, Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna, Middle East Technical University Ankara, University of Maastricht, and Trans European Policy Studies Association. At the Charles University, the project is co-ordinated by Professor Lenka Rovná and Zuzana Kasáková.
